While VRChat is a free-to-play game that doesn’t really require a VR headset, we all know that this awesome device can make the experience many times better than only using your basic computer.
A good VR headset lets you look around in the world of the game more freely and properly interact with all the other players and in-game items.
Today, I’ve compiled together a list of the three best VR headsets to use with VRChat in order to help you get started.
What is the best VR headset for VRChat?
Below you’d find our list of the best VR headsets for VRChat to try this year:
1. HTC Vive Pro
HTC Vive Pro is the most premium headset on this list that is perfect for both professional and casual use. This headset comes with eye-tracking capabilities, which means that even the eyes of your avatar will move according to the movement of your real eyes. The 2880×1600 OLED displays of this thing are absolutely amazing and make all the details of the game look super crisp.
The HTC Vive comes with a STEAM VR tracking device that will track all the movements of your body and correctly translate them into the world of VRChat.
The headset has been built with the comfort of the user in mind. Thanks to the awesome weight distribution of this headset, you will be able to play VRChat for many hours without feeling any fatigue.
Of course, the headset also comes with a mic and headphones that are both pretty decent in terms of quality. The headphones come with noise cancellation, so you don’t really have to worry about the environment around you causing any kind of distractions.
Pros:
- Comes with complete body and eye tracking.
- The controls work perfectly with VRChat.
- The OLED display is awesome.
Cons:
- HTC Vive Pro is pretty expensive.
- You will need a powerful PC to play VRChat using this VR headset.
- Some players did not like the design of the controllers.
The HTC Vive Pro is the headset that you should be going for if you don’t really care about your budget and just want the most premium experience ever. Paired with a powerful PC, this VR headset will provide you with the ultimate VRChat experience. This VR headset will cost you about 899 to 1100 USD.
2. Oculus Quest 2
Here is the budget option on my list that is perfect if you just want a more immersive VRChat experience and don’t really care about all the fancy stuff. The best thing about the Oculus Quest 2 is that you don’t even need a PC to run VRChat on this headset! The game runs perfectly fine on the VR headset itself.
The Oculus Quest 2 comes with built-in microphones and headphones of adequate quality, and the displays of the headset are also pretty impressive considering the low price tag. The controllers of this thing have been designed perfectly, and the hardware is powerful enough to handle all kinds of VR games without lag.
The Oculus Quest 2 also comes with a guardian feature that lets you define your play area before starting your game. This feature ensures that you don’t accidentally bump into any objects while enjoying your game.
Pros:
- Oculus Quest 2 is very affordable.
- VRChat can be played without a PC.
Cons:
- No body tracking feature.
- You will have to connect the device with Facebook.
The Oculus Quest 2 is the best option on this list for all you casual gamers out there as it is very affordable and easy to use.
3. Samsung Odyssey
Last on our list is the Samsung Odyssey VR headset that provides us with the best display quality. The awesome quality of its OLED displays makes this headset also the best option if you are interested in watching movies. The refresh rate of the displays is 90hz, so you will be able to enjoy very smooth character movements as well.
The controllers of the Samsung Odyssey are pretty decent, but they are nothing special. The device does have body tracking, but it does not come with complete body tracking like the HTC Vive Pro, as the cameras are present on the headset itself.
The headphones of the Samsung Odyssey are also amazing as they have been designed by AKG.
Pros:
- The best display.
- You don’t need a very powerful PC to use this headset.
Cons:
- You will need a PC to play VRChat.
- You don’t get complete body tracking.
- A pretty expensive VR headset.
If picture quality is the only thing that you are concerned about, then this right here is the perfect VR headset for you. The headset costs about 1000 USD.
